    1. With East Beacon (qv). Built at a cost of £60 by John Turnbull to replace earlier C18 beacons. A navigational aid for ships entering the river Tyne. In the form of an obelisk, the lower third of ashlar, the rest of brick, with a pyramidal stone cap.
