Description

These are three early 19th-century houses located on the south side of Greens Place. The buildings are constructed of red brick with slate roofs; the west end is hipped, while the east end features gables. A decorative modillioned eaves cornice runs continuously across all three houses.

Number 83 consists of five bays and has two storeys above a semi-basement. It features stone window surrounds; the windows have been re-glazed. A stone cill band runs along the ground and first floors. A stone Doric portico provides access to the central entrance. To the west is a recessed two-storey single-bay wing.

Numbers 84 and 85 are slightly set back from number 83 and comprise four bays and three storeys above a semi-basement. They also have stone window surrounds, with re-glazed windows, and stone cill bands to all floors. A simple Tuscan doorcase marks the entrance, and a later bay window has been added to the ground floor. The buildings were used as the Pilot Office from 1886 until 1980.
