Description

Clifford's Fort west and south west wall is a fortification built in 1672, constructed from sandstone ashlar and brick. The wall features a tapered nosed design with brick upper courses that include bricked-up musket holes. It is partly obscured by later buildings and has been partially demolished due to construction work south of the Trinity House almshouses at the time of the survey. This structure is also recognized as a scheduled ancient monument.
