Description

Clifford's Fort south and east wall facing the river is a Grade II* listed fort wall built in 1672. Constructed from sandstone ashlar, the wall features a tapered nose and gun embrasures. It was built just before the outbreak of the Dutch War. The wall is partly obscured by later buildings and ongoing construction work. It is also recognized as a scheduled ancient monument.
