Description

The terrace comprises five houses, built around 1860 in Tynemouth. The houses are constructed of English bond brick, with painted brick at number 3. They have sandstone ashlar basements and dressings, and Welsh slate roofs with stone gable copings.

The houses have basements and three storeys. Numbers 1, 2, and 3 each have two bays, while numbers 4 and 5 have three bays. The front doors are 4-panelled at numbers 1, 2, and 4; number 3 has a hardboard-covered door. All are recessed under flat Tuscan doorcases, with overlights above. A 20th-century door has been inserted under a brick arch in the first bay of number 5. The first bays of numbers 1, 2, and 3, and the third bay of number 4, feature canted bay windows with stone mullions. Sash windows above the doors have projecting sills, and wedge lintels form a band at the first-floor level and eaves. Number 5 has similar sash windows, with one inserted into where a door previously stood. All windows feature late 19th-century glazing bars. Cast iron balconies are present on the first-floor windows. The brick chimneys are topped with ashlar cornices, particularly noticeable on the ridge and at the end of number 4. Number 5 is included on the listing for group value alongside numbers 1 to 4, and also in relation to Bath Terrace, despite alterations.
