Description

A terrace of houses, built around 1823. The terrace, numbered 34 to 46, is constructed of sandstone ashlar with Welsh slate roofs, and some rendered chimneys. It comprises 25 bays and is two storeys high, with some attic windows. The windows have simple surrounds and flat stone lintels, except for those at numbers 44, 45, and 46, which feature flat Tuscan doorcases. Numbers 38 and 39 incorporate an elliptical-arched passageway with a Tuscan surround, and the window above is set within a raised stone surround. The windows are sash windows, some with glazing bars; a sill band runs along the ground floor, and the first-floor sills project outwards. There are some ground floor alterations. A gutter cornice and blocking course runs along the top of the building. Number 34, at the left end, has a panel with raised lettering reading “JESSAMINE PLACE”. The rear of number 33 has a quoin stone inscribed “DES PIERRE / 1823 / TRIOMPHANT”.
