Description
The gates and gate piers located to the south of Fleming Memorial Hospital were constructed around 1887. They are made of sandstone ashlar and cast iron. The structure features three tall rusticated piers that have roll moulded plinths, heavy cornices, and ball finials on square bases with scrolled brackets. The gates consist of both single and double designs, with uprights that have ball and spike heads above the top rail and rosettes below. Additionally, the gates include spearhead dogbars, diagonal lower braces, and stout curved stile finials. These gates and piers are included for their group value.
