Description
The Hall and School of the Church of St. George is a parish hall dated 1887, located on Osborne Road in Newcastle upon Tyne. It is constructed from snecked sandstone with an ashlar plinth, dressings, and quoins, topped with a Welsh slate roof featuring stone gable copings. The building has a T-plan layout, with a three-bay link to the left that connects to a house and a hall extension on the right. Designed in the Perpendicular style, it is a single-storey structure with six bays, with the left bays featuring a double panelled door and flanking three-light traceried windows beneath a wide gable adorned with shafts and pinnacles. Stone mullioned and transomed windows are located on either side, while the right square bay projects under a parapet with battlements and includes a door on the inner return. The low right section on the left has a gabled porch with a traceried window and a door on the right return, topped with a wrought iron sunflower finial. The main entrance gable is crowned with an acorn finial, and the building features wide roofs with ridges and gables that have plinths and cornices.
