Description

Lemington Cone is a glassworks building, now a factory, constructed around 1787 for the Northumberland Glass Company. It features English bond brickwork, with the uppermost courses renewed. The tall cone structure has five large segmental arches visible on the west and south sides, and two smaller arches on the north side, which have been bricked up with a door inserted in the north-west. This building is historically significant as the only surviving glasshouse on the Tyne, known for glass manufacturing since the early 17th century.
