Description
The Lemington War Memorial is located on the southern side of Lemington Cemetery, near the path. Made from Glencoe granite, this approximately 5-meter tall monument features a Celtic cross that rises from a substantial tapering pedestal. The pedestal is set on a two-stage base. The front face of the wheel-head and the upper part of the cross shaft are adorned with carved interlace patterns.
The main dedicatory inscription on the front face of the pedestal reads: "IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THE FOLLOWING/ INHABITANTS OF LEMINGTON, WHO LAID DOWN/ THEIR LIVES FOR KING AND COUNTRY IN/ THE GREAT WAR 1914-18," with names recorded below and on the sides of the pedestal.
