Description

This is a terrace of eight houses with shops, built in the early to mid-19th century in Newcastle upon Tyne. The houses are constructed of local pinkish-red brick in English bond, with an ashlar plinth and stone dressings. The roof is covered with Welsh slate. The terrace is three storeys high and consists of four houses, each with two bays. Each house has a paired door leading to both the house and the shop at each end of the terrace, and groups of four doors in the centre. The original shop fronts have glazing bars to two of the shops on the left, while two shops on the right are boarded up. A bracketed fascia cornice runs above the shops. Original four-panel doors are present, along with oblong fanlights above them. The windows have wedge stone lintels and projecting stone sills, and are sash windows with glazing bars, with the windows above the doors being narrower. An eaves band and a gutter cornice are visible. The low-pitched hipped roof has two ridge chimneys.
