Description
The Church of St Luke is a parish church built between 1886 and 1890 by architects Oliver and Leeson. It is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof with stone gable copings. The church has a short nave with a south porch, paired transepts, and a chancel that includes a north vestry and a south apsed chapel, all designed in a 13th-century style.
The gabled porch contains a double panelled door with an overlight featuring cusps, set within a deep chamfered surround with a moulded head. The windows include plate tracery in the three-light windows, two-light traceried windows in the chapel and vestry, and a prominent five-light east window with a sill and drip strings. The building is supported by buttresses and has steeply pitched roofs, rounded over the chapel, with a cross finial atop the chancel. The west belfry is capped with a high pyramidal roof.
