Description
Nos. 7 to 19 on Mosley Street are shops and offices built in 1870 by Alfred Swan for Mawson and Swan. The building is constructed of ashlar in the Baroque style and features four storeys plus an attic, arranged in nine bays divided into three sections of three bays each by giant Corinthian pilasters that rest on a channelled, rusticated ground floor. The side sections include subsidiary divisions of channelled piers and enriched string courses, with recessed windows that have moulded surrounds. The central section features an iron balustrade on the first floor and an architrave with a cornice above the central window. The building is topped with a full entablature that has a projecting cornice on brackets, which is crowned by a blocking course and four giant urns.
