Description
The South Shelter in Saltwell Park is a Grade II listed structure built in 1887 and originally removed from Town Moor, Newcastle. This octagonal shelter features a timber frame and tiled roof. It has two open front bays, with the flanking bays being half walled. The frame consists of rough rustic posts and braces supporting a conical roof topped with an octagonal drum and a pointed cupola. The walls are decorated with half branches arranged in geometric patterns, and the drum has open-work detailing.
