Description
Belvedere Walls, turrets, and staircases to the west and south of Saltwell Towers were built in the early 1870s as part of the landscaping for Saltwell Park Mansion, commissioned by William Wailes, a stained glass manufacturer. The structure features two levels of rusticated stone walls with plinths and copings, along with octagonal corner towers that have battlements. The walls are U- and L-shaped in plan, enclosing a small upper belvedere and a larger lower belvedere. These elements create fitting southern and western approaches to the mansion.
