Description
The Cowen family tomb and the wall attached to the northeast of the Church of St. Paul is a family vault made of stone. It features six square-section curved pedestals that support a moulded table stone, which commemorates Sir Joseph Cowen of Blaydon Burn House, Member of Parliament, who died at Stella Hall in 1873, his wife who died in 1851, and other family members up to 1904. The tomb is enclosed by a round-coped dwarf wall, from which the rails have been removed, and this wall connects to the north side of the chancel and the east end of the north aisle.
