Description

These are an 18th-century pair of through-passage buildings on High Street, Yarm. Some rebuilding of the front elevation took place in the 19th century. The buildings are constructed of painted brick with pantiled roofs, although the roof to No. 29 is a replacement. They feature end brick chimneys. No. 27 has been rebuilt. A 19th-century brick eaves cornice with stepped and dentilled details runs along the top of the building, and the gable copings are also of the same date. The buildings are three storeys high and have five late 19th-century sash windows on the second floor, set within architraves and with stone sills. Two-storey canted bays of a similar date flank a central four-panel passage door, which has an oblong fanlight and a quasi-classical surround. A gable-ended rear wing is attached to No. 29.
