Description
Wynyard Hall is a Grade II* listed building constructed between 1822 and 1841 by Benjamin Wyatt for the third Marquess of Londonderry. Although the interior was gutted by fire in 1841 and later remodeled, the original hall remains, featuring a coffered barrelled ceiling and apsidal ends. The exterior retains its original design, built of ashlar and standing two storeys tall. The entrance front showcases a pedimented hexastyle Corinthian portico, flanked by three-bay sections and wide, one-bay projecting ends. The parapet includes balustraded panels and niches for statues, with similar balustraded panels on the area walls. To the right, there is a former conservatory, now roofless, which contains a swimming pool and outdoor sculpture gallery. To the left, an older service wing has been remodeled to form a residence. The garden front features nine bays, flanked by three-window bows and one-storey ends, all set in a fine park by a lake.
