Description

This is a terrace of four cottages located on Westgate in Guisborough. They were likely built in the late 18th century or early 19th century. The cottages are constructed primarily of dressed sandstone, although numbers 147 to 151 have been rendered and painted. The roofs are covered with clay pantiles on numbers 147 to 151, with stone ridge and gable copings. Number 153 has a more modern concrete tile roof. Each cottage has four brick stacks. The cottages are two stories high, with a single window on each floor and a doorway to the left-hand side. They have vertically boarded doors and Yorkshire sash windows, with the exception of number 153, which has mid-20th century casement windows. The windows have painted stone sills. Extensions and outbuildings at the rear of the cottages (on the south side) are not considered to be of architectural interest.
