Description
Nos 134 and 136 Westgate is a mid-19th century town house built from chevron dressed sandstone with smooth margins. It has a mid-20th century concrete tile roof, with stone gable coping on the right-hand side and a stone stack on the left-hand side, along with a brick stack stump on the right. The building is two storeys high and has three bays.
The central doorway features a timber surround with panelled pilasters and an entablature, along with panelled reveals and a rectangular fanlight that has geometric pattern glazing bars. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, or they may feature blank panels with painted bars, and the painted stone sills extend as bands across the façade. The corners of the building are accentuated with rusticated quoins.
The listing also includes an adjoining extension at No. 136, which is built in matching materials and style but is slightly recessed. This extension is also two storeys high, featuring a central sash window with glazing bars on the ground floor and a boarded door to the right. The first floor has two tall windows that are floor-to-ceiling, with mullioned and transomed casements and margin glazing bars.
