Description
No. 187 Westgate is a house built in the late 18th century, constructed from chevron-dressed sandstone. Originally, the left-hand side of the building was part of No. 185 Westgate. The house features a late 20th-century interlocking clay pantile roof, with stone gable copings and a brick stack topped with stone on the right-hand side. It has two storeys, with a Yorkshire sash window with glazing bars on the first floor and a mid-19th-century sash window with glazing bars on the ground floor, both set on stone sills. The right-hand side has a clay pantile roof and a brick stack. The left-hand side doorway contains a six-panelled door and a rectangular fanlight with glazing bars. There is a late 18th or early 19th-century bow window on the right-hand side, which sits on a stone plinth and has fixed lights with glazing bars and a modillion cornice. An extension to the rear, on the south side, is not of interest. The building is included partly for its group value with Nos. 181, 183, and 185 Westgate.
