Description

Woodhouse Farmhouse, along with an adjoining former farm cottage and outbuildings, dates from the late 18th century. The farmhouse is constructed of brick on a stone plinth, topped with a clay pantile roof, and features stone ridge and gable copings, with two stacks at the gables. It is two storeys high and has three bays. The central doorway has a six-panelled door, a rectangular fanlight with geometric glazing bars, and a mid-Victorian timber surround with pilasters and an entablature. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, including an early 19th-century sash on the left-hand side of the ground floor that is wider than the original opening. On the right-hand side of the ground floor, there is a mid-19th-century canted bay window on a brick plinth, featuring 21-pane sashes.

The listing includes the former farm cottage on the west side of the farmhouse, built in the same materials and also dating from the late 18th century. This cottage is two storeys high with one bay and has a canted ground floor bay window similar to that of the farmhouse, along with paired sashes with a timber mullion and glazing bars on the first floor. The rear elevation of both the farmhouse and the farm cottage features Yorkshire sashes, mostly with glazing bars. There is a round-headed staircase sash window with intersecting glazing bars at the centre of the rear elevation of the farmhouse. The listing also includes outbuildings that are attached to the rear (north) elevation at opposite ends, which date from the late 18th and early 19th centuries and are made of brick with pantile roofs.
