Description

A row of six tombstones for dogs, dating from the late 19th century and early 20th century, is located south of the gatehouse to Skelton Castle. These tombstones are made of sandstone and have a round-headed design, measuring approximately 30 cm by 40 cm by 5 cm. Each stone is inscribed on the south face with the name of the dog and its dates, including "NELLIE," "CORRIE," "MOKA 1899-1910," "GILLIE," "ROCK," and "KEEPER 1890-1901," "1890," and "1902-1906."
