Description

The gatepiers, gates, and walls located north-east of Castle Lodge date from the mid to late 19th century. They are constructed from sandstone ashlar and feature iron gates. The design includes low curved walls with flat copings, positioned between inner and outer piers topped with shallow pyramidal caps. The inner piers have moulded hollow-chamfered angles that face ornamental gates adorned with spike finials. These structures serve as the entrance to the grounds of Skelton Castle and are included for their group value.
