Description

Number 19, known as The Seven Stars, is a public house that originally served as a coaching inn, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed from chevron dressed sandstone, which is rendered and painted, and features a hipped clay Gaelic-tile roof with three brick stacks along the ridges. The building has two storeys and includes a simple portico on the right-hand side, supported by round columns that have an entasis but lack bases. Above the portico is a heavy entablature with pilasters. On the left-hand side, there is a three-light bow window with late 19th-century sashes and a narrow cornice. The first floor has a paired sash window, while all other windows in the building have been altered.

The listing also includes a lower two-storey outbuilding that is contemporary with Number 19, located at the rear on the south side and facing Bow Street. This outbuilding is made of painted sandstone and has a clay pantile roof. Additionally, the listing covers a cottage that adjoins the west side of Number 19, which dates from the mid-19th century. This cottage is built from painted chevron dressed sandstone and features a Welsh slate roof with a brick stack on the right-hand side. It has two storeys and one bay, with paired sash windows that have moulded stone mullions and lintels. The properties are included in the listing partly for their group value.
