Description

This structure consists of gates, gatepiers, and flanking walls located 10 meters north of Number 2 in Skelton. It dates from the early 19th century and features dressed sandstone gatepiers and walls. There is an iron gate from around 1900 at the entrance to the grounds of Skelton Castle, along with mid-19th century ornamental gates for vehicles and pedestrians at the entrance to the Old Church of All Saints. The pedestrian gate has mid-20th century timber posts. The walls are ramped with flat copings, and the gatepiers have shallow pyramidal caps. The entrance to the Castle features a simple barred gate. This structure is included for its group value.
