Description

The war memorial, dating from around 1920, is located on Church Street in Wooler. It is constructed from sandstone and features a tapering rock-faced plinth with ashlar panels that display the names of the fallen. At the top, there is a Celtic wheel-head cross adorned with interlace and vine scrolls. The memorial is inscribed with the following text:

"No hate was theirs
No thirst for fame
When forth to death
By honour sent
Life beckoned sweet
The great call came
They knew their duty
And they went."
