Description

EDLINGHAM EDLINGHAM VILLAGE NU 10 NW 14/330 Pair of cross bases 9 metres south of Church of St. John the Baptist GV II

Cross bases; one probably Pre-Conquest, the other medieval. Cut sandstone. The earlier stone is a well-cut tapering block 0.4 x 0.5 metre and 0.6 metre high, with a rectangular socket on top. To the south is a second base 0.4 metre square with an off-centre rectangular socket and a stepped edge, now almost flush with the ground.
