Description
East Kyloe Tower is a 14th-century tower constructed from squared stone, standing approximately 15 feet tall to the top of the ground floor, with the south side rising about 10 feet higher. The tower measures around 36 feet square and features a slit window on the west side and another slit window on the east side, which has been enlarged and is part of a much later entrance. The original door has been blocked and is now covered by farm buildings on the south side.
Inside, the walls are 8 feet thick and the structure has a tunnel vault supported by corbels that were intended for former flooring. Both slit windows have deep splays. There are remains of a newel stair located in the thickness of the wall in the south-west corner, which includes a small pointed tunnel-vaulted antechamber. One doorway has a truncated triangular head, while the other features a pointed arch.
