Description

House. Dating from the mid-18th century and refaced and extended in the early 19th century, Buckton Farmhouse is built with an ashlar facade and random rubble elsewhere, covered by a Welsh slate roof. The building follows an L-plan, with a lower service wing attached to the left.

The main two-storey, three-bay block features a central 6-panelled door and a French window to the left, both set within a 20th-century sun lounge. Twelve-pane sash windows are present elsewhere. A 1½-storey, two-bay section to the left has two 12-pane sashes on the ground floor and one above in a half-dormer. A single-storey, one-bay section to the left also has a 12-pane sash.

The gabled roof has flat coping and brick end stacks. The right return side shows 12-pane sashes and a two-storey bow window with three 12-pane sashes per floor. Wrought-iron balustrading is situated in front of the first-floor windows. More 12-pane sashes are found at the rear, along with a round-headed stair window with a keystone.

The interior includes a mid-18th century open-well staircase with turned balusters, along with 6-panelled doors, shutters, and early 19th century decorative cornices.
