Description

This is a milepost located 530 metres east of the A197/B1337 road junction in Pegswood, likely dating from the mid-19th century. It is made of cast iron and is painted orange with black figures. The milepost has a triangular shape with an open back and features a raised legend indicating the distances to Newbiggin (7½ miles) and Morpeth (2 miles). Its current height is approximately 0.45 metres, although it is partially buried.
