Description

This milepost, located east of the road and 80 metres south of Swan Farmhouse, is likely from the mid-19th century. It is made of cast iron and painted white with black figures. The milepost stands 0.90 metres tall and has a triangular plan with an open back. It features a raised legend indicating distances to Newcastle (10 miles) and Morpeth (4¾ miles), with the latter figure displayed on an added plate.
