Description
The stable block, located approximately 50 yards north of Adderstone Hall, was built in 1819 by William Burn. It is constructed from ashlar and dressed stone, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building is designed in a U-shape, featuring a two-bay center that is one tall storey high, flanked by projecting one-and-a-half-storey wings with one bay each. The center includes two segmental arches leading to the carriage house. The wings have three-bay inner returns, which contain boarded doors and six-pane casements set in raised surrounds. There is a cornice and blocking course, and the hipped roof is fitted with three later ridge stacks. The rear of the stable block has been partly converted into a cottage, which includes outside stone steps leading to a boarded granary door.
