Description
Blueback Bridge over the River West Allen is a bridge that likely dates from the 18th century and was widened in the mid-19th century. The south face features coursed rubble with a squared stone parapet, while the north face is rock-faced with a tooled and margined stone parapet. The south face has an elliptical arch with an arch ring and a chamfered band below the parapet, which flares out at the ends. The north face has a segmental arch that springs from impost blocks, with a keystone that extends upward as a pilaster, flanked by broader pilasters. There is a moulded string below the parapet with sloped coping, and the pilasters are topped with pyramidal caps.
