Description
There are nine boundary stones located on the boundary with Ellingham civil parish, likely dating from around 1755. These stones are made of sandstone and are rectangular pillars with chamfered angles and tops, standing between 0.50 and 0.90 metres high, except for one small stone that is only 0.15 metres high at NU 13252424. Each stone features incised letters: "CH" for Carnaby Haggerston on the north side and "I C" for John Cay on the south side. Sir Carnaby Haggerston held the manor of Ellingham from 1740 to 1756, while John Cay held North Charlton from 1754 to 1782. These stones mark the boundary between the two townships.
