Description

The Old School, now a house, was built in 1875 as a school. It is constructed of squared stone with a slate roof featuring coped gables and stone stacks. The building is a single storey with three bays. A central bay projects forward and contains a renewed 16-pane sash window, above which is a bellcote with a trefoil-headed opening and a coped gablet. A stone slab is inscribed with the words 'BUILT BY SUBSCRIPTION' and the date 1875. The returns of the central bay have narrow 8-pane sashes, while the flanking bays have 16-pane sashes. Porches are set back at each end; the left porch has been blocked with a 20th-century window, and the right porch contains a boarded door under a reset pointed arch. The building is included on the list primarily for its historical interest.
