Description

The balustraded garden wall and flight of steps, located 35 metres south-east of Blenkinsopp Hall, dates from the late 19th century. It is constructed of ashlar and measures 60 metres in length, featuring a central flight of steps. The wall stands 2.0 metres tall and is made of snecked stone, with a balustrade above a decorative band. Regularly spaced piers project forward, with ashlar piers on the retaining wall and piers featuring chamfered rustication on the balustrade. The taller piers at both ends and flanking the steps also have chamfered rustication. The straight flight consists of 13 steps, each with matching raking balustrades and rusticated piers. This structure is included for its group value.
