Description

East Fourstones Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse, built incorporating earlier fabric. The main block is constructed of coursed stone with tooled and margined quoins and dressings, topped with a hipped slate roof and twin central corniced stacks. The building has two storeys and three windows. A set of four semicircular stone steps leads to a central six-panelled door, which is topped by an oblong fanlight. Sixteen-pane sash windows are fitted, each with slightly projecting sills. A rear wing is located to the left and features three original sashes on the first floor facing south. A block attached to the north side of this wing is part of an earlier house, constructed of rubble stone with dressed quoins. This earlier section has later windows and later outshuts on its north side.
