Description

Buston Barns Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, possibly incorporating earlier elements. The rear outshut is from the late 18th century and has been altered in the 20th century. The building is constructed of roughly-squared stone with cut dressings, while the outshut is partly made of brick. It has a 20th-century pantile roof.

The farmhouse has two storeys and is composed of one bay on the left and three bays on the right. The right section features a central top-glazed flush-panelled door set in a wave-moulded surround with concave chamfer stops. There is a sunk lintel panel that once bore a date, but it is now illegible. The windows are renewed 16-pane sashes, all set in recessed and chamfered surrounds. The gable copings are raised and reverse-stepped, and there are stepped-and-banded stacks at the ends and ridge.

The left side of the building shows a blocked window with a stone surround and a renewed 12-pane sash on the first floor. The right side has blocked small chamfered fire windows and a larger blocked window on the first floor.

The interior has not been seen but has been significantly altered in the late 20th century. A 20th-century flat-roofed sunlounge at the west end is not considered of interest.
