Description
Dorton Spa Farmhouse is a house that likely dates from the 17th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century and the 20th century. It is constructed from roughly coursed rubble stone, featuring dressed stone quoins from the 17th century and dentil brick eaves from the 18th century. The building has a two-span hipped roof covered with 20th-century tiles and a rebuilt brick chimney located at the front left corner.
The farmhouse is double piled, two storeys high, and has two bays. It includes 17th-century chamfered stone mullion windows, with a three-light window in the right bay and a two-light window in the centre. The right side features similar three-light windows in the left bay and on the first floor to the right, along with a 20th-century matching four-light window on the ground floor to the right. The entrance is located in a lean-to at the rear.
To the left, there is a lower wing that dates from the late 18th to early 19th century, which is also made of stone and has a hipped tile roof with a square chimney shaft made of thin brick. This wing is one storey with an attic, featuring one bay of leaded casements, with the upper casement set in a dormer at the eaves line, and a flush-panelled door to the right.
