Description

High Shaw is a farmhouse and barn, now used as an agricultural store, dating from around 1700, with a barn addition from the early 19th century. The building is constructed of rubble, with roughly cut quoins in the earlier part and tooled and margined stone in the barn. It features windows with timber lintels and a stone slate roof that has a stone ridge and gable stacks, with the left gable being coped. The barn door has alternating jambs, while the house has an off-centre door with a replaced head, two windows to the right, and one to the left, along with two small first-floor windows and a third blocked window above the door. Inside, there is an old fireplace with a hood bressumer, and the roof consists of three upper-cruck trusses with collars, two levels of purlins, and a ridge piece. At the time of the survey, the building was empty and derelict.
