Description

This milestone, located 200 metres east of the Broomley Road junction, dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is made of sandstone and features a triangular-section pillar that stands 0.60 metres high. The top is flat and has a worn benchmark. The faces of the milestone are inscribed with "G" for Gateshead, indicating a distance of 15 miles, and "H" for Hexham, indicating a distance of 7½ miles.
