Description
This is a dovecote located 100 metres north-west of Togston House, dating from the late 18th century and incorporating earlier materials. It is built of rubble, reusing some squared stone, and features cut quoins and dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The structure is rectangular and has two storeys. The south side has a narrowed cart entrance with a timber lintel, a slatted window with a slightly projecting sill above, a square eaves cornice, and a swept hipped roof. The left side shows a part-slatted window and a boarded door leading to the loft. Inside, the loft contains two tiers of wall nesting boxes on all sides except the west, made of brick partitions on stone shelves and infilled with later brickwork. The roof consists of two trusses with double collars and hip rafters supported by angle ties, with some reused timber from an older building. The loft floor has been removed.
