Description
The wheel mould, dating from the 18th century or early 19th century, is located 2 metres south of the old smithy, adjacent to Smithy Cottage in Eglingham Village. It is made of cut stone and consists of a circle of dressed stone blocks with an internal diameter of 1 metre, now nearly flush with the ground. This structure was formerly used for shaping iron tyres for cart wheels.
