Description

The entrance screen to Rock Hall is a gate screen, likely from the 18th century. It is constructed of squared stone, with a rubble rear face on the quadrant walls and features ashlar dressings. The screen includes rusticated piers that have moulded cornices and ball finials on swept bases. The quadrant walls are topped with low chamfered coping, which sweeps down at mid-length and connects to smaller rusticated end piers that have low swept pyramidal caps. At the time of the survey, the southern part of the screen was completely obscured by ivy.
