Description
The entrance gateway to the Henry King Memorial Almshouses is a late 17th century or early 18th century structure. It was relocated to its current position by the late Mr. Lockhart, who owned the Manor Office and the Moot Hall among other properties. The gateway is made of stone and features rusticated detailing, a pulvinated frieze, and a bolection architrave with eared ends. Above, there is a segmental pediment supported by consoles, which sits over panelled pilaster strips. This gateway, along with Nos 24 to 34 (even), forms a group of buildings, with Nos 28 and 34 being of local interest.
