Description
The mill and adjacent stable/granary are located in Edlingham, with the mill dating from the early 19th century and the stable/granary from the 18th century, which was remodeled in the early 19th century. The mill is constructed from squared tooled stone, while the stable/granary is built from rubble with tooled-and-margined quoins and dressings, topped with Welsh slate roofs.
The mill features boarded double doors on the east end, with the south wall displaying a boarded door, a boarded loft window, and a blocked round-arched opening for the head goit. The north wall has a boarded door with a timber lintel and several blocked openings, while the west end includes a blocked window and a boarded window above. The mill has a hip-ended roof.
The stable/granary is attached to the north-east corner of the mill. Its south elevation has a stable door and four renewed first-floor casements, all set in alternating-block surrounds, along with boarded double doors in a 20th-century opening. The gables are coped, and the east end features an external stone stair leading to a boarded door in an alternating-block surround.
Inside, the mill has a collared-rafter roof without any longitudinal members. There are asbestos-roofed sheds on the north side of the stable/granary, which are not of special interest.
