Description
Wall Mill, also known as The Old Mill, is a corn mill dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of roughly-squared rubble with cut quoins and tooled dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building has three storeys and three bays. The stable door is set in an alternating-block surround, with part-slatted windows to the right and a smaller doorway on the far right leading into the wheelhouse. The first floor features altered windows and 16-pane Yorkshire sash windows, with two smaller windows above. There is a stepped stone stack at the left end. The left side of the mill, built into the hillside, has a boarded door in an alternating-block surround and is accessed on the second floor. The rear of the building has similar windows.
Inside, there is a wooden-spoked undershot wheel, and much of the machinery, primarily wooden, remains in place. The internal face of the west gable has pigeon holes, and the roof features king-post trusses.
