Description
The lodge at the entrance to High Barns is a mid-19th century building constructed from coursed rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings, along with a porch front. It has a Welsh slate roof and is a single storey with two symmetrical bays. The central gabled porch contains an altered vertical-panelled door, which is set in a moulded surround with a flattened triangular head, all framed under a hoodmould. The lodge has two-light mullioned windows with sashes, although the original glazing bars are no longer present. Moulded eaves corbels are visible, and the gables are coped with moulded kneelers. There are diagonally-set stepped-and-banded central stacks located on each side of the ridge. The lodge is included for its group value.
