Description

This pair of cottages, located to the north of The Hadrian Hotel, is a bastle house dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with remodeling that occurred in the mid-19th century. The structure is built from large coursed rubble with tooled dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. The upper parts of the end stacks have been rebuilt in yellow brick. The cottages are two storeys high and consist of three bays. There are central pairs of vertical-panelled doors set in stop-chamfered surrounds, along with a painted imitation window in a blocked original doorway above. To the left, there are six-pane sash windows, while to the right, there are twelve-pane shortened sashes.
